Flex XML Ticker is coded in Flex 3, using Actionscript 3 and is
ultimately 2 products in one; a precompiled SWF for use anywhere,
and a set of AS3 classes for use in your Flex projects.
XML Ticker simply displays ANY XML file, local or remote, in any
format you want. Display is fully configurable via the
configuration file, all content is displayed using simple HTML
templates which you define, and the display of the HTML is
controlled by CSS , again which you define.
All in XML Ticker is a blank canvas which you can style however
you want (all via a single xml config file), and use it to display
any number of XML data sources (rss feeds, xml files for other
tickers, youtube feeds, twitter feeds etc).
The Download includes extensive documentation, several useful
examples, the compiled SWF ready to drop in to any HTML page, Flash
Project, XML Flash Template Site, or indeed Flex Project. Also
included is the full source as a Flex project, along with all
classes.
All Classes are AS3 , fully documented and very lightweight.
XML Ticker has fully error control, as in it will only ever
display 2 errors, one if the configuration file can't be found, and
another if its got invalid syntax. All other errors such as remote
sources being down, or containing invalid xml are silently ignored,
thus giving your end users no headaches or bad impressions.
By default XML Ticker is completely transparent, and resizes
completely to whatever size you make the SWF , however every single
aspect of it is fully configurable via the config file (including
swf/image backgrounds, fonts, transparency, colors, borders etc
etc).
In short, if you need something to show your stock quotes, rss
feeds, latest twitters, headlines, podcasts (insert any xml source
here) - then you don't need a programmer, you just need 5 minutes
and this product.
